Join us September 12 at 6:30pm at the Sandbox (70 Audubon Street, New Haven) for a screening of Ousmane Sembène’s classic rise-and-fall tale dissecting colonialism and poverty from an angle not many films show. The film will be proceeded by a 30-minute discussion about its themes!

All are welcome to join us for this free public event. Snacks will be provided!

    Film synopsis:
A money order from a relative in Paris throws the life of a Senegalese family man out of order. He deals with corruption, greed, problematic family members, the locals and the changing from his traditional way of living to a more modern one.

    Capital vol. 1 Reading Group

The Political Education working group is running a reading group series on volume 1 of Capital. We will be reading the first six chapters over several biweekly meetings. This group is open to all who want to read Capital; you do not have to be a regular member of any working group to attend.

We will meet in person for the next session on Wednesday, September 2 at 6:30-8pm outside the Beinecke Library (weather permitting).

We will be reading part 2 (pages 247-280) for this session. Find the PDF here.
